Egypt, Turkey discuss bilateral relations

Turkish President Abdullah Gul received Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Hisham Qandil on Friday 10/5/2013 where they discussed means of boosting bilateral relations in various domains.

Egyptian Cabinet Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Al Hadidy said the meeting focused on bilateral relations in the commercial and economic fields, adding that Turkey is interested in investing in Egypt.

He said the volume of Turkish investments in Egypt amounts to USD 2 billion, adding that the two sides are seeking to increase these investments through establishing new joint projects.

Prime Minister Dr. Hisham Qandil said the economic and social reform program which is carried out by Egypt is purely Egyptian, adding that this program was discussed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).He said we shall carry out this program whether or not we reach an agreement with the IMF.

Qandil said these statements before the meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Istanbul, where he stressed the importance of exerting every possible effort to achieve social justice.
